Dreamy Peach Garden, a large landscape opera, is created on the basis of Tujia culture, folk culture, farming culture and history of Youyang, which is a strategy to “prosper the county with tourism”, accelerate the integrated development for culture and tourism, and complete the tourism development system. In August 2014, it was first put on and identified as the excellent folk cultural performance of Youyang and southeast Chongqing. In 2015, Youyang upgraded and modified the show comprehensively according to the requirements of “highlighting the features, being close to the life of people, gathering folk customs and creating boutique show”, which was put on May 1, 2015 successfully.
Dreamy Peach Garden is the only live performance about Peach Blossom Valley in China after the modification. Lasting over 60 minutes, it is divided into “preface, Peach Garden in spring, mysterious Peach garden, falling in love in Peach Garden, and hospitable Peach Garden”. It was directed by Lan Tianwen, the director of Charming West Hunan — a large folk music and dance performance, the winner of Silver Award of classical dance of the 9th Lotus Award” of Chinese dance, the outstanding representative in dance born in 1980s. Its songs were composed by Zhu Caiyong, the outstanding young composer of Hubei Province Opera and Dance Drama Theater on the basis of romantic yet heroic folk songs of Youyang. The stage art was designed by Guangzhou New Code Digital Technology Co., Ltd., which used to design stage art for Impression of Putuo, Impression of Wulong and Impression of Pingyao.
The image creation, artistic expression and imaging medium have been designed in overall by adopting advanced multimedia technology, for which water curtain in fan shape, fire effects and “naked 3D” visual effects are added to create strong three-dimensional space. It is a visual art feast performed by highly combined modern sounds, lights, electric, video, stage art and music, etc. It presents the paradise scenes of brooks running under the bridges and smokes curling up into the sky with grand scene, changing plots, and overwhelming stage lights. It is a window for tourists from all over the world to understand the vigorous folk style, admire Tujia hand-waving dance, leaf love song, grass gongs and drums, Yang Opera with Masks, weeping wedding, Xilankapu Brocade and the charm of other intangible cultural heritages, and understand the magnificent cultural spirit of Tujia.
Venue of Dreamy Peach Garden — Peach Garden Grand Stage, located in Moon Bay in the north of Youyang downtown, takes up an area of 3.667 hectares with a gross floor area of 18,000m2. Embracing by Folk Street, State Land and Resources Bureau, and Finance Bureau, it can accommodate 2,800 audiences at the same time. The stage was built with about RMB 180 million, which includes the supporting facilities of Ancient Archway, folk customs exhibition, landscapes, office and administration house, leisure teahouse, and digital system, etc., which is the largest landscape performing stage in southeast Chongqing.
