Hand-waving Dance is one of the most major symbolic culture forms of Tujia. Taking hand waving as the features, it is a sacrificial dance that Tujia ancestors created while they worshiped the totem, ancestors, and King of Tujia through long living and production activities. In October 2001, Mr. Li Peng, the former member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and the chairman of the National People’s Congress, joined the Hand-waving Dance with citizens of Youyang in Peach Garden Plaza when he visited the old liberated area. Delightedly, he wrote the inscription — “The Home of Youyang Tujia Hand-waving Dance”.
